My Update

Thank you for checking up on my progress. I am settling in at my foster home in Michigan. My first day here I followed my foster mom around the yard. She said I was very demure. I agree with that.

Then she noticed I wasn't acting right. I started to cough a lot, had some blood in my urine and stool and I stopped eating. She called the doctor right away. I went in the next morning. They did some bloodwork, weighted me 54.2 lbs (to thin), listened to my lungs, which are congested, temp was good. Through my exam they found out I had a lot of bad bacteria in my stool. They started me on some medicine.

I must be feeling better. I tricked my foster mom. She got out of her truck today and I nabbed the donut she brought home. And she heard me "singing" in the backyard.

I heard a lot of people are worried and pulling for me! I am going to do my best to get better so I can have my Heartworm Treatment (check our medical blog) and then down the road get spayed. No more puppies for me!

My medical bills are starting to add up, any donations would be greatly appreciated. Remember GLWR is a 501 C 3 so everything is tax deductible.

Check back for updates. My test results are coming back today. I didn't even know I took a test, I hope I passed!

Very gentle kisses,

Vi

My Story

Hi! My name is Violet, or Vi for short. I am a blue Weim. This is my story.

I am a very timid girl. I was over bred, recently had a litter. I am also Heartworm Positive*. The rescue is taking me to the doctor tomorrow to find out why I am not putting on weight.

GLWR asked a volunteer to pick me up. She took me back to her house during my transport lay over.
This is what she noticed:
-I am timid, but friendly.

-I wasn't so sure about the attention, but when she stopped petting me I did nudge her. Then she started again.

-When she cuddled me at first I went rigid, but then I liked it once I found out she would keep petting me while she held me.

-I liked the other dogs here too, both male and female.

-I rode very well in the crate on the way to her house and on the transport. I must admit I did snore a bit.

She grew very fond of me and told me I was a special girl and would make a wonderful pet. When she took me to the next volunteer she made me promise to get well, be good, and eat all my kibble so I can gain some weight.

I think I can do all that.

Please check back soon on my progress.

Weim Kisses,

Vi

*Heartworm Positive dogs go on to live happy and healthy lives. Just the same as those that did not have Heartworm.

GLWR does not turn away Heartworm Positive dogs. We will bring them in to our program and treat them. The treatment can be costly, along with the other medical problems the dogs may have. Donations are always greatly appreciated and are tax deductible.

My New Friends

These were some new friends I met on my transport lay over. Peach, the Pointer, kept "play bowing" But I wasn't sure what she wanted to do. I wagged my tail at her, she pawed at me. I was told she wanted to play, but I don't know what that is? I was very friendly with her and I watched her run around with the other dogs here. It looked like fun, but I didn't understand it.
Hey! This dog looks like me! This was my new friend Socrates. He was very nice and very gentle around me. I really liked him. I was very friendly with him. I sat next to him, but when the camera came out he moved.
So I do like other dogs.

This very nice lady lived next door to where I stayed for the morning. I liked when she pet me. I even liked her husband!
